1967, The Hour of the Gun
Starts at the end of the classic gunfight at the OK Corral. This is a smart movie. Don't look for great acting, but the story, weaving through the courts, the ballot, back to the courts, with guns always in the background.

1939, The Mortal Storm
For a good number of reasons, including the year it was filmed, some of the acting (Sullivan as Freya) and for showing happy, drunk, singing Germans, all in the context of the internal Nazi/Communist political struggle in SW Germany, makes this one of my favorite old movies.

1940, Santa Fe Trail
Errol Flynn and Ronald Reagan star in this very racist rewrite of the story of the abolitionist John Brown. For example, in real life John Brown sent his son out under a white flag and the townspeople shot him. In the movie John Brown sends out a hostage and then John Brown shoots the hostage in the back. No hotages were actually taken. I can imagine the same being done to the story of Ruby Ridge someday. John Brown was right about abolition, and wrong on his methods, but that doesn't excuse this peice of crap.

1996, Pandora's Clock
This movie has some truly hilarious attempts to be serious about terrorism. For instance, the terrorists apparently intercept and trinagulate all calls from all CIA operatives. It's way too long, but, still, it will get one's brain juices thinking about terrorism from a non-standard camera angle.

Murder in the Private Car (1934)

This one has a couple really unnecessary racist bits in the middle of a movie that is slowish, unusual, and at one point unique. 2 of 7 stars.
